What is BS?
Basement Spaceman is the creative vehicle for Melbourne based singer/songwriter Andy Brown. Brown presents a bizarre world of back masking, subliminal messages, sexy UFOs and freaky speakers.
The self titled long player has received some very healthy airplay on Melbourne's RRR, PBS and ABC National's 'Inner Sleeve'. Jonathon Alley (ABC) has described it as "left-of-field rhythms covered with lovely acoustic performances, great singing and beautiful songwriting" while RRR's Neil Rodgers simply described it as "a brilliant record". PBS's Ken Evil called Basement Spaceman "out there stuff" and the track 'Sexy UFO' has featured on the legendary RRR show 'The Skull Cave'.
The album has also reached number two on the 'Record Paradise' album charts and is proving popular with vinylists locally.
Much of 2017 & 2018 was spent writing and recording the new album ‘For Those Afraid Of The Rising Sun’ which presents as a departure from their earlier work, exploring a ride through sleep and the shock of waking up. Hummable melodies underpinned by complex themes and hidden musical moments that can only be detected on multiple listens.
Sounds Like: Minimalistic Space Dream Pop!
